Lincolnton, Georgia is a small city with only about 1,600 residents. It is the county seat of Lincoln County, and it was named for historic American Revolution leader General Benjamin Lincoln. This city was founded in 1798, was incorporated into a town in 1817, and received its city incorporation in 1953. This city consists of about 3.2 square miles of total area, all of which is made up of land. Notable residents have included former NFL players Barney Bussey and Pettis Norman.

Despite being a small community, there are a few noteworthy attractions located in Lincolnton. This is a popular community for outdoor lovers, as Elijah Clark State Park & Museum is located here, and area visitors can camp out at the Clay Hill Campground.
